July 4th...Bear Lake Adventure

We went camping over the fourth of July weekend at Bear Lake.

Last year we were there over the 24th of July, I thought that would be cutting it a bit close this year.  While trying to leave the city with our car packed we waited for papers to get drawn and reviewed so we could close on our house.  We were supposed to meet at the title company at 3pm then 4:30pm, and when we arrived the papers were still not ready.  So we got to close on our house at 7:30pm July 1st!  We decided that was a great way to start our trip and we hit the road.

We arrived at the campground around 9:45pm, way later than our planned 5pm arrival.  It was dark and we had to set up our tent...well Colby and Clayton set it up.  But after that the weekend was mostly enjoyable.  There was lots of wind, which is to be expected.  The water was very cold.  We had good company.  But I was really sick of the cotton!!!  It looked like it was snowing and you couldn't eat or breath without getting it in your mouth, we experienced that for hours everday!

We lounged around camp, played cards, ate food, went to the beach, laid in the sun, took naps, fished (unluckily), and enjoyed the sounds of the lake waves and the warmth of the evening campfire.

Our camping company included:
Clayton & Khristina
Tom & Nicole
Dan & Tarynn
with kids Ella, Sawyer & Griffin

In conclusion...I think from now on we will try to go later in July or the beginning of August to miss the cotton and let the lake warm up.
